TRINIDAD AND ALAMOSA — Trinidad State College has been awarded $5.75 million from the U.S. Department of Labor for robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing, and welding labs.

Rhonda Epper, President of Trinidad Sate College told the Valley Courier, “For Alamosa, there will be funding for equipment to upgrade the Welding labs, while adding Computer Aided Drafting and Robotics. These new labs will be incorporated into the renovation of the Valley Campus that was funded by the state legislature last year at $22 million.”

Epper said the college would have a lengthier statement on Tuesday.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis said in a statement, “Congratulations to Trinidad and Alamosa! Emergent Campus and Trinidad State College have been granted $5.75 million from the US Department of Labor to support robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing. This builds on our bold investments at the state level through Opportunity Now to train Coloradans for great jobs.”

The Valley Courier will have more on this development in our print edition on Wednesday.
