NEW ORLEANS – Adams State cross country head coach Damon Martin was named the 2024 NCAA Division II National Women’s Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Martin led the Grizzlies to team titles at all three championships they competed in this season, including the RMAC, South Central Region, and NCAA Championships. At the NCAA Championships, Adams State scored just 61 points, winning by a margin of 66 points. This victory marked Martin’s 21st NCAA women’s cross country team title and 40th overall NCAA championship.
The women’s championship team included six All-Americans: Elena Carey, Ava O’Connor, Morgan O’Keefe, Precious Robinson, Emily Schoellkopf, and Tristan Spence.
On the men’s side, Adams State produced four All-Americans: Kidus Begashaw, Julian Campos, Romain Legendre, and Juan Rosales.
