ALAMOSA – The 2025 season came to an end for the eighth-ranked Alamosa High School girls soccer team as it lost to Holy Family, 1-0, in the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament Thursday at AHS stadium.

“They were very good,” said Alamosa coach Kelly Wubben. “They were very fast and they could pass. We were not expecting that from a 25th-ranked team.

The only goal of the game came in the 11th minute as Clara Johnson sent a corner kick into the goalie box where it was fielded by Samantha Gryzmala, who put the ball into the net.

The Lady Tiger defense limited the Lady Mean Moose to just three shots on goal, all of which were stopped. It was the only time Alamosa was shut out this season and the first time since last year’s state playoffs when it lost to Delta, 6-0.

Holy Family had eight shots on goal. It also had seven corner kicks while the Lady Mean Moose had none.

Alamosa goalkeeper Emily Tibbits had seven saves.

Alamosa finishes the season with a record of 10 wins, two losses and two draws. The Lady Mean Moose lose Tibbits to graduation, but return their top three scorers in Jayden Wubben, Leah Higareda and Araceli Molina.

“We’re going to be ready to go next season,” Wubben said. “I’m just super proud of my girls. We just had a great season. We just had a tough draw. It’s unfortunate that we had to draw a private school when we’re ranked eighth. It’s unlucky that we did that. But I’m super proud. We were in the game the whole way. I’m just proud of my girls.”
