ALAMOSA – Both the Alamosa and Monte Vista high school girls golf teams were in action over the last few days.
Pueblo County Invitational
Monte Vista finished in fifth place at the Pueblo County Invitational last Friday at Hollydot Golf Course.
The Lady Pirates had a team score of 293. Kiera Sanchez led the way as she finished tied for 11th with a 95. Reagan Futrell and Destiny Pacheco both tied for 18th with a 99, and Krissa Padilla took 23rd with a 104.
Two more Monte Vista golfers competed as extras and didn’t figure in the team scoring. Evie Hinds tied for 24th with a 106, and Ellaree Rockey tied for 26th with a 107.
Rye easily won the tournament with 239. Fowler and Pueblo Central were a distant second with 280.
Pueblo Central’s Sofia Contreras was the medalist with a 75.

Rye 239, Fowler 280, Pueblo Central 280, Pueblo County 286, Monte Vista 293, Pueblo South 295, Swink 307, Canon City 307, Pueblo Centennial 319, Pueblo East 333, Swallows Charter Academy 337.
Gunnison Invitational
Alamosa’s girls golf team competed at the Gunnison Invitational Monday at Dos Rios Golf Club.
The Lady Mean Moose won the tournament with 299. They were led by Taybor Wiedeman who finished third with a 96, and Hallie Henry who was fifth with a 98. Morgan Ortega was 12th with a 105 and Miya Spangler was 19th with a 111.
Gunnison’s Aiden Tomlin was the medalist with a 91.

Alamosa 299, Gunnison 302, Palisade 304, Cedaredge 308, Grand Junction 345, Palisade 2 365.
Canon City Invitational
Monte Vista competed at the Canon City Invitational at Four Mile Ranch Golf Club on Thursday.
The Lady Pirates finished third with a score of 306 and were led by Sanchez, Rockey and Pacheco who all tied for 11th place with a 102. Futrell placed 20th with a 106.
Pueblo Central won the tournament with 284, with Pueblo South finishing a distant second with 304.
Pueblo Centennial’s Paula Narros was the medalist with an 88.
