MONTE VISTA – Monte Vista High School student-athlete Kevin Cisneros decided where he will continue his athletic and academic careers as he signed a national letter of intent to wrestle at Otero College in La Junta.
“I took a visit there and I thought it was the best fit for me,” Cisneros said. “They supported me through a lot. Just making this whole process pretty easy, and I felt it was the better option to go.”
Cisneros had an outstanding wrestling career for the Pirates. He placed high at the state tournament his last two years as he was second his junior year, and third as a senior.
“It was a good experience,” Cisneros said. “But it wouldn’t be possible without my family, my coaches, my teammates and God.”
Cisneros also played football at Monte Vista. But he says that wrestling is his passion.
“Football has had some ups and downs, but wrestling has always been my go to,” Cisneros said. “I definitely like wrestling better.”
Cisneros will take several memories from Monte Vista to Otero.
“Taking second is going to be a big memory,” Cisneros said. “Even the practices and everything here has been fun. I’ll take a lot of that with me.”
