ALAMOSA – The Alamosa and Monte Vista high school girls golf teams competed at the Madeline A. Mellers Memorial Tournament Wednesday at Hollydot Golf Course in Colorado City.
The Lady Mean Moose tied for 6th place with 288. Morgan Ortega, Taybor Wiedeman and Kiara Gallegos all tied for 18th place with a 96, and Jayla Quintana was 30th with a 101.
The Lady Piratesplaced 10th with 323. They were led by Kiera Sanchez who was 38th with a 105, followed by Destiny Pacheco who was 43rd with a 108, Krissa Padilla who was 44th with a 110, and Evie Hinds who was 56th with a 112. Mazi Hinds was 56th with a 122.
Rye won the tournament with 243, followed by Salida with 247. Salida’s Kyndra Johnson was the medalist with a three-under-par 68. Pueblo Central’s Sofia Contreras shot a par score of 71.
Both Alamosa and Monte Vista will next compete at the Gunnison Invitational on May 5 at Dos Rios Golf Course.
