State CC: Centauri girls place sixth, boys finish 12th

Sowards finished in 27th place in 17:50.40. The Falcons finished 12th as a team. Centauri High School's Tayte Hostetter approaches the finish line at the Class 2A State Meet in Colorado Springs. Hostetter was 19th in a time of 21:05.50 and the Lady Falcons finished sixth as a team.

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Centauri High School girls cross country team finished sixth in its Class 2A State Meet, while the boys took 12th in their competition.

Leading the way for the Lady Falcons was Tayte Hostetter who finished in 19th place with a time of 21 minutes and 05.50 seconds. Also scoring for the Centauri girls were McKenzie Torres who was 35th in 22:07.50, Kaia Skadberg who was 42nd in 22:21.50, and McKenna Guymon who was 45th in 22:37.90.

Rounding out the Lady Falcons were Hannah Guymon who was 60th in 23:34.20, and Tayden Montoya who was 121st in 29:41.70.

The Lady Falcons scored 122 points.

The Falcons’ boys team scored 197 points and it was led by Mason Sowards who finished in 27th place in 17:50.40. The other Centauri scorers included Carson Bagwell who was 31st in 17:56.20, Tyrel Hostetter who was 83rd in 19:19.40, and Ren Canty who was 94th in 19:37.60.

The other Centauri boys runners were Estevan Vega who was 100th in 19:53.00, and Troy Sowards who was 110th in 20:23.00.

Also running in the 2A boys race were Sargent’s Westen Burkhart who placed 47th in 18:25.60, and Del Norte’s Riley Orr who was 89th in 19:24.50.
