Posted

Gained his wings Aug. 14, 2022. Bob was born in Santa Ana, Calif., on Oct. 5, 1933, to Wilber and Bernice (Owens) Lewis.

He grew up in Tustin, Calif., where he graduated from high school. Bob and his friends built the first dragster car and were noted in the Hot Rod magazine.

Then he went off to the Army from 1953 to 1955, finishing his service time in the USAR.

Bob eventually moved to Texas, where hie was in the Western wear business. He had his own store, Bob’s Western Wear and boot and shoe repair for 35 years in Borger, Texas.

After selling the store and retiring, Bob and his wife, Yvonne, moved to Del Norte, to live their dream in their cabin in the mountains. Live the dream they did. Bob opened Bob’s Boot and Shoe Repair in Del Norte, and Bob and Yvonne worked at the liquor store for quite a few years.

In 2019, they moved to Hutchinson, Kan., to be near family for health reasons.

Bob was always willing to help others in times of need, was an avid fisherman, adventurous daredevil, whether it be on land or water. He was a huge NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt fan. He lived life to the fullest and had many accomplishments. No one could ever argue the love he had for animals, especially dogs.

A loving husband, father and granddad, he is survived by his wife of the home for 38 years, five children, Ryan (Jaime) Lewis, Nicole Lewis, Lesa (Tim) Edwards, Crystal Kelly and Julie Edwards, 10 grandchildren, Dylan, Ella, and Jase Lewis — Joshua, Jeremy, and Jennifer Taylor — Preston and Dalton Black — Stetson and Bailey Kelly, and 11 great-grandchildren.
