ALAMOSA — The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Alamosa County, which connects seniors with local volunteer opportunities, invites the public to its monthly “Spark Speaker Series: Empowering Aging in Colorado.”
The next event takes place on Tuesday, April 8 at 1 p.m. at the Alamosa Senior Citizens Center. This popular series addresses issues pertaining to older adults and their health. The talks feature local expert speakers on topics such as well-being, nutrition, volunteering, memory, physical health, and much more. All are welcome and no registration is necessary.
The featured speakers on April 8 are Nancy Harris, RSVP Manager, Alamosa County, Sharon Adcock, RSVP volunteer, Annalise Baer, Director of the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley and Audrey Liu, Director of the San Luis Valley Habitat for Humanity. The title of this presentation is “The Power of Volunteerism.” RSVP of Alamosa County believes that folks aged 55 and up have much to contribute to their communities through volunteer engagement and there are many advantages to one’s health from volunteering.
This panel on volunteerism features experts who will share how volunteering in our community offers benefits to older adults, such as increased physical and emotional well-being, while contributing to the resilience of our local area. The series will be held at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month in the Alamosa Senior Center, 92 Colorado Ave.
