ALAMOSA – In a heartwarming display of community support, San Luis Valley Behavioral Health Group (SLVBHG) partnered with Hank Maxwell, a local YouTuber, Veteran, and family man, along with his corporate sponsors, to donate a high-performance gaming PC to a local Veteran in need.

This generous gesture is part of SLVBHG’s ongoing commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of veterans in our community.

The lucky recipient of the gaming PC, Andre Hutchison, a local veteran, expressed profound gratitude for the donation. “I’m very grateful,” he said, sharing that he had never won anything in his life. The gaming PC will help provide him with an opportunity to connect with others and engage in a positive, immersive experience that promotes emotional healing.

Maxwell, who is known for his fun-loving nature and commitment to his family, built the gaming PC, embodying the spirit of giving back. Maxwell’s passion for supporting Veterans and his belief in the power of community led him to partner with SLVBHG and his network of corporate sponsors to bring this initiative to life. Known for his ability to balance professionalism with a fun, vibrant personality, Maxwell’s involvement has been a source of inspiration for the community.

Gaming is increasingly recognized as an effective therapeutic tool for individuals recovering from PTSD. Studies show that video games can help reduce symptoms by providing an immersive experience that distracts from traumatic memories and encourages focus, problem-solving, and social connection. Multiplayer gaming, in particular, fosters camaraderie, enabling veterans to connect with others who understand their unique experiences.

This donation is just one example of how SLVBHG is committed to supporting Veterans in the San Luis Valley. As part of a broader initiative to promote mental health and recovery, SLVBHG continues to seek innovative ways to provide veterans with the resources and connections they need for healing and growth.
