MOFFAT — Moffat Pk-12 Schools recently competed in the National Archery in the Schools Program 2025 National Western Tournaments in Sandy, Utah, representing Moffat and Colorado. Archers from across the country and several provinces turned in nearly 6,000 Individual scores across three separate shooting venues. The tournaments began on April 24 and continued through April 26.

Moffat traveled with six competitors, all securing positions in the tournament by finishing in the top 10 in their respective divisions in the 2025 NASP Colorado State Tournament. Moffat Archers participated in a  Centershot Bullseye round on the morning of April 24 and a 3-D (animal targets) the same afternoon. Moffat continued competition with a NASP/IBO (International Bowhunter Organization) 3-D round on the morning of April 25 and concluded with a NASP Bullseye round the same evening.

Moffat Archers collectively turned in eight scores across all venues that represented personal best scores for individuals. Caiden Cross, freshman, turned in personal best scores in three of the four competitions. Caiden missed qualification for the NASP Bullseye Open National Tournament by one point. Moffat secured five top 50 finishes across all divisions.

“It is a coach’s dream to have competitors turn in their best performances in a national tournament. We are proud of our archers,” stated Jack Sciacca, Moffat Archery coach.

Chase Shellabarger, sophomore qualified in both NASP/IBO 3-D and NASP Bullseye to compete in the NASP National Open Tournaments in Myrtle Beach, S.C., June 5-8. Chase, 2025 NASP Bullseye Colorado High School Boys State Champion, turned in two personal best scores in 3-D competitions to finish seventh in the Centershot 3-D and 13th in the Western National NASP/IBO 3-D. Chase was the National Centershot 3-D Champion in 2023.

Moffat coaches, Jack Sciacca and Megan Shellabarger plan to take Chase Shellabarger to the 2025 NASP National Open Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in June. Donations to offset travel expenses are greatly appreciated.
