CREEDE — Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) will attend the world premiere of “Creede U.S.A.,” a documentary by Kahane Corn Cooperman who directed the Oscar-nominated short documentary, “Joe’s Violin” in 2016.
Cooperman had seen the 2021 New York Times article featuring the theatre and was inspired to learn more about CRT and the Creede community. The film will premiere at one of the top film festivals in the country – South by Southwest Film Festival – and takes a nuanced look into the small mountain town of Creede: its rich history, people, and myriads of points of view that make up its community. Longtime acting company and staff member Kate Berry will attend the March 9 premiere in Austin, Texas. The film wil also be shown on March 10 and 13 as part of the festival.
Founded in 1966, Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT) is a professional theatre company located at 9,000 feet of elevation in the historic town of Creede, which offers beautiful mountain views, hiking trails and stunning campsites in a county comprising 97 percent public land.
From its Rocky Mountain roots, CRT serves as an artistic home to the rural community and beyond, through the creation of repertory seasons, dynamic educational programs and compelling new works.
