CENTER – On April 12, the newly remodeled Town Hall Annex, Senior Center and Court Building was the place to be as the Town of Center hosted a Craft and Bake Sale for the community.
About 10 vendors were set up inside of the building at 295 S. Worth St. and people moved from table to table looking at the crafts and baked goodies that were set up for sale by local crafters and bakers.
Local craft business, “Dot’s and Dashes,” was set up just inside with beautiful sun catchers that dangled from gold and silver chains.
There were handmade bookmarks at the table, along with do-it-yourself keychains that people could put together with many different rubber emblems to choose from to add to their keychain.
Just beyond the table, there was a table of lively tumblers for sale, including tumblers with baby cows, funny sayings, and tumblers decorated with beautiful flowers along with lovely, adorned glass bottles and water bottles.
There was a vendor table with scented wax melts called sprinkles. Interested customers could purchase sprinkles and take samples of the wax sprinkles.
There was a vendor table dedicated to woodworking with many different wood signs, including a family tree, with different names on it, a baby dinosaur, cowboy designs, and many other nicely cut out wall hangings.
There was also a table full of baked goods with freshly made breads, bagels, vanilla-iced cinnamon rolls and other tasty treats, made by a local baker. She said she just enjoyed baking for fun and enjoyed selling at different events.
Center Town Manager Cole Webb said the bake sale had grown from the previous year.
“We have a lot more vendors at this sale than we did the last time. I think later in the afternoon it will open and bring more people in too,” he said.
Webb said the town was planning to hold at least two craft and bake sales per year – spring-summer and near Christmas, with the possibility of a third in the fall.
Webb said he felt the vendors enjoyed being there, and people were supporting it.
Bernice Beltran was at the Craft and Bake Sale and said she was excited to see the new building and check out the crafts.
“There are not a lot of things to do in Center during the week or on the weekends, so this sale is cool. They have been working on this building for a while, I guess it’s done, and it looks good in there. I hope people will come out and buy a lot of stuff, we have to support each other you know,” she said.
