ALAMOSA — On Saturday, May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, join the Friends of the San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuges for a birding expedition along the Rio Grande.

This will be a driving birding tour from the refuge headquarters to the bluffs.

“We will stop to talk about plants with partners from the Colorado Native Plant Society,” organizers stated.

The birding expedition is free and appropriate for novice and experienced adventurers. All ages are welcome, and no reservations are required. Wear proper footwear and clothing for the weather. Bring binoculars (we have loaners), a camera, water, hat, sunscreen, and your curiosity. The free event will be held at the Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters, 7824 El Rancho Lane, Alamosa.
