Benjamin John Davis, 41, died Aug. 5, 2023, at his home in Creede, Colo.
He was born on Jan. 23, 1982, in Tribune, Kan., the son of Jane Davis.
Ben moved to Creede with his mom, Jane, in the summer of 1996 where he attended school and graduated from high school in Creede, May of 2000. Ben spent the rest of his life living in Creede, working at the grocery store as a clerk and a butcher and then worked for the City of Creede as the Public Works Director for many years.
Ben was a son, brother, and uncle. He always made time for his siblings, nieces, and nephews when they would come to Creede to visit. His favorite things to do with family were showing the kids the heavy equipment at his job, hunting mushrooms, camping, and showing them all around Creede.
Ben also spent the last few years transporting hikers in and out of the mountains while they hiked the Colorado trail and loved every minute of it. He was the self-appointed ambassador to Creede, always showing up with a smile and a helping hand. He will be missed dearly by everyone that knew him.
Ben is survived by his mother: Jane Davis of Creede; three brothers: Dustan Ricker of Akron, Colo., Rustan Ricker of Phillipsburg, Kan., and Tristan Ricker of Elizabeth, Colo.; one aunt: Susan Cox of Portland, Ore.; and two uncles: Lynn Davis of Richmond, Va., and Mike Davis of Laramie, Wyo. Ben also has 11 cousins, six nieces and four nephews.
Let us not forget the many friends in Creede who affectionately called him “Jamin” and loved him as much as we do! You could not walk in anywhere in Creede by his side without someone hollering from across the room, “Hey Jamin what’s up.” We love you Brother!
Graveside services for Ben will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Creede Cemetery.
