LA JARA — The Gathering Our Communities in Christ Christmas concert is Dec. 4 in the Centauri High School gym at 3 p.m. This special concert brings the community choir, youth choir, elementary school's honor choir, and families together to celebrate the season of Christ's birth.

ANTONITO — Richard de Herrera, Alice Trujillo, and Marty Guerrero met at the Antonito Senior Center a year ago, discovered a mutual interest in horses, and this sparked an idea — the South Conejos Saddle Club.

MONTE VISTA — The Conejos Peak Ranger District of the Rio Grande National Forest announced Thursday, Oct. 27, the availability of the final decision notice and environmental assessment for the Trail Gulch Vegetation Management Project. District Ranger, Andrea Jones, has documented her decision to implement the project as originally proposed, with a minor modification.

SOUTH SAN LUIS VALLEY — The community came out in force this year for Halloween activities in San Luis, Fort Garland, Blanca, La Jara, Antonito, and Capulin.

CONEJOS-COSTILLA — Halloween is right around the corner and there are several festivities planned in Conejos and Costilla counties.

BLANCA — The Silver Sage 4-H club in Costilla County is holding its second fundraiser Nov. 7. They are selling tickets for a chance to win a semi-truck load of wood logs. The drawing will be held at the Blanca-Fort Garland Community Center.

SAN LUIS — Jared Gurule was recently voted in by his peers, the San Luis mayor, town manager and town board as the new junior trustee for San Luis.

BEAR CREEK — The mountain community of Bear Creek, located 17 miles west of Antonito, has awarded three scholarships to three graduating high school seniors for 2022. The scholarships are awarded to one graduating senior from each high school in Conejos Canyon — Antonito, Sanford, and Centauri.
