CREEDE – It was an evening full of laughter and fun for all who attended the Colorado Theatre Guild’s Henry Awards and those present made the best of it including several members of the Creede Repertory Theatre (CRT).

CREEDE – The 39th annual Snowshoe Shuffle took place on Aug. 3. This year’s 5K running and walking race had over 100 entrants. The race provided exercise and fun for all involved.  The race was an out and back from Basham Park up East Willow past North Creede and then returned to the park by the same route. After the race, participants enjoyed cookies provided by Bristol Head Bakery and bananas provided by Kentucky Belle Market. During the awards, door prizes were given by local merchants.

The Creede Arts Council is proud to be hosting the 20th annual Silver Thread Studio Tour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. Artist locations will be along the Silver Thread Scenic Byway, Highway 149, beginning in the Indian Trails neighborhood east of South Fork, up through Creede and ending at the Studios at Bristol.

CREEDE – The Creede and Mineral County Underground Community Center was packed wall to wall with booths for the annual Creede Rock and Mineral Show this past weekend. People from all over the country perused the many booths seeking out treasures and learned new and wonderful things about all the different rocks and minerals on display.

CENTER – On Aug. 4, the San Luis Valley Agricultural Coalition hosted its eighth annual appreciation barbecue and resource fair for anyone in the agriculture industry – ag workers, farmers and ranchers – at Casa Blanca Park in Center.

MONTE VISTA — The Monte Vista Police Department will have its National Night Out event from 4 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Chapman Park. The public is invited to attend this child friendly that will feature free food and drinks, and games and music.

MONTE VISTA —The Church Project owner Madeleine Ahlborn was all smiles on the second night of the opening of the community play at her building. The play, “Knocking on the Devil’s Door,” was the first to be held at the Church Project and was a riveting experience from beginning to end. CENTER – Attention anyone in the agriculture industry, the San Luis Valley Agricultural Coalition is having its annual appreciation barbecue and resource fair from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Center’s Casa Blanca Park.

MOSCA – On Saturday, July 27, the Mosca Volunteer Fire Department held its annual community barbecue. There was a slight breeze in the air, and approximately 100 people were standing in line outside the firehouse, awaiting their turn for some delicious barbecue, served by the firefighters.

DEL NORTE – The Colorado Supreme Court earlier this month denied the “petition for writ of certiorari” by the Town of Del Norte, which was attempting to have a lower-court's ruling overturned in the lawsuit by former trustee Laura Anzalone that claimed the town violated Colorado’s open meetings law when it censured her in 2021. 

SOUTH FORK – The parking lot and lawn outside of the South Fork Visitor Center was lined with vendor booths throughout the day on July 17 for the third annual South Fork Friends Foundation’s Arts and Craft Fair.

CREEDE – Rockhounds from around the globe will be venturing to Creede next weekend for the annual Creede Rock and Mineral Show on Aug. 2-4.

DEL NORTE – With the Downtown Revitalization Project getting underway in Del Norte, the Rio Grande County Museum and Del Norte Public Library partnered on another project and saved two cherished monuments that would have been without a home.

DEL NORTE – As this busy summer begins to slide toward fall in the Valley, Del Norte is gearing up for its annual Covered Wagon Days and the four-day event is set to be a grand time for all.
