Avalanche danger high through Dec. 30

...

SAN LUIS VALLEY – The Colorado Avalanche Information Center announced Tuesday, Dec. 29, that the avalanche danger is high at all elevations. Natural avalanches are likely, and human triggered avalanches are very likely. Traveling in avalanche terrain is not recommended as new snow, and strong southwest winds continued to load our weak snowpack overnight.   If you are enjoying the snow, make sure you are familiar with the terrain. Avoid traveling in or under avalanche paths. Give any slope over 30 degrees a wide berth.
